Carl Woofter Obituary, Death – At 61, retired Physician’s Assistant Carl Woofter died at KU Medical Center on February 13, 2023. Carl is survived by his wife of 11 years, Lee Woofter, his children: Hannah Woofter of Kansas City, Missouri, Dylan Woofter of Overland Park, Kansas, Kaitlyn Leighton, husband William of Hays, Kansas, AJ Woofter, wife Kali of Merriam, Kansas, Corey Stevens, wife Alysse of Holly, Colorado, and stepdaughter, Karlee Bliss, husband Austin of Holdredge, Nebraska; and his seven grandchildren, Tegan Woofter of Lawrence, Kansas, Marshall and Mason Le His father, Dale Carrier Woofter, sister, Sherida Linn Shoff, and sister-in-law, Donna Jo Woofter, died before him.
On May 11, 1961, Carl was born in Atwood, Kansas. Dale, Gladys Woofter. Carl graduated from Hoxie High School in 1980 after Dale and Gladys moved there. Carl worked at Woofter Pump and Well, the family company, throughout his youth. He pulled and drilled new water wells nationwide alongside his father and siblings. Carl started working on his own after working with his family, delivering drilling mud to oil rigs, construction, and a brief spell as a jeweler and photo shop owner.
Carl became a radiology technician with an Associate’s Degree from Fort Hays State College in 1994. Carl earned a Suma Cum Laude Bachelor of Science in Medical Diagnostic Imaging from Fort Hays State College in 1997. The Wichita State University Physician Assistant Program admitted him in 1998.
He graduated Cum Laude as a physician assistant in 2000 and practiced for 15 years before retiring early due to poor health.
P.A. Carl was the people’s supplier. He loved treating people and delivering the finest treatment to rural and underprivileged communities. He believed in healthcare future investment. He partnered with Wichita State University to mentor Physician Assistant Program students in Family Practice.
Carl liked fishing and traveling. Carl would have his luggage and rod ready for each fishing trip. His favorite pastime was fishing with family and friends, especially his dad, Dale.
Mickey – Leopold Funeral Home will have visitation on Monday, February 20, 2023, from 2:00pm to 7:00pm, with family 5:00pm-7:00pm. First Christian Church in Hoxie, Kansas will have funeral services for Carl on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:30am with Pastor Carl Dumler officiating. A future memorial for Carl has been recommended to the Woofter Family. This service will broadcast live at www.mickeyleopoldfuneral.com.
